SUSAI BENJAMIN

LABOR CANDIDATE FOR SEVEN HILLS

STATEMENT ON TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Friday 13 March 2015

Western Sydney is the fast-growing engine room of NSW. Our community needs need more

investment in road and rail infrastructure, and a clear plan for the future.

Unfortunately, all we hear from Mike Baird and the Liberals is extravagant promises, all reliant on

the risky sale of our electricity network, which means higher prices and more cuts.

Labor’s infrastructure plan will deliver an additional $10 billion in addition to the $15 billion a year

currently in the budget. We will protect the electricity network and use $1.7 billion in profits it

creates to fund nurses, teachers, and police. Labor will reserve an additional $3 billion to fund new

hospital projects, build and renew schools, and upgrade our TAFE facilities.

I’m proud that Labor will also invest $1.5 billion to support Western Sydney jobs, transport and

housing. As a supporter of public transport and a daily commuter on the Western Line, I will fight for

upgrades to Pendle Hill and Toongabbie stations.
